Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS)

Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS): A neurological scale used to assess the degree of brain impairment from a personal injury accident. A patient is assessed against the criteria of the scale, and the resulting points give a patient score between 3 (indicating deep unconsciousness) to 15 (least severe damage). Scores of 9 or less categorize an individual as catastrophic impairment.
